As a relative newbie to the geocaching game (only about a month and a half of experience at the time of writing this) one thing I have noticed that is common within the Geocaching world is having a series of caches which are named after a certain theme. I've seen MLB teams, NHL teams, and I decided to take a different path in the sporting world with this trio of caches.
Glenlyon Playground was home to countless AYSO soccer matches of mine when I was growing up, and as a Portuguese-American, the Portuguse national team was my first love when it came to being a supporter. I decided to name these caches after my personal top three favorite Portuguese players. These are not by any means who I think are the top three players in Portuguese history (who for the record, I would say are Eusébio, Luís Figo, and Cristiano Ronaldo). So for you hardcore soccer fans out there, keep the arguments out of your logs!
For the last in this series, I have gone with my favorite player currently playing, Raul Meireles. Currently playing with Turkish club Fenerbahçe, Meireles has spent time with many clubs, including a season with my favorite English team Chelsea, a season in which they won their only Champions League title. He has been a member of the squad for Portugal's last four major competitions. One of my favorite things about Meireles is his style, whether it is some of the streetwear he's spotted wearing, or the hairstyles he'll sport, such as a mohawk/burly beard combo (definitely worth a Google).
Parking is available at the ends of both Cauley and Kelley Avenues. Taking a walk around the path at the edge of the playground will lead you to all three of the caches in this series. Stealth will certainly be required to find this cache, be careful when retrieving and rehide as found. Enjoy this park and happy caching!
Congrats to remy288 on FTF!
