East Over's' varied wildlife habitats are largely an artifact of past land uses. Today, rolling fields and abandoned pasture lands comprise well over half of East Over's acreage. Almost 40 acres of hayfields provide not only an important agricultural crop, but also habitat for grassland wildlife such as bobolinks, meadow voles, colorful butterflies, wild turkeys, and deer. Twelve acres of fields at East Over once used to pasture livestock are now undergoing succession toward woodland. The stages are set up to take you around the reservation. Please follow the paths from the parking lot which are usually mowed shorter then the field grass. During the Fall season the local foliage should give a great colorful view. Also in the Fall as your walking the trails you can smell the wild grapes that are growing in different areas. Please don't put any spoilers in your logs as they may be deleted. A pair of tweezers or something similar might come in handy as the contents of the micros at stage 1 & 2 can be difficult to get out. Good luck and enjoy!
