Geocache Description:

Welcome to the 5th annual Mad Cache Dash!

Hosted by Brennan7

NOVEMBER 15TH, 2014, PALMER PARK, 10:30 AM -- 2:00(ISH)

PLEASE LET US KNOW AT LEAST THREE DAYS IN ADVANCE IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE RACE! THIS WILL HELP US ORGANIZE THE EVENT AND HELP US JUDGE START/STOP TIMES. YOU MAY STILL COME TO THE EVENT AND HANG OUT EVEN IF YOU AREN'T RACING.

Obviously this event is a race for geocachers. Please get into teams of 2-4, and choose the time that you would like to race. Teams will be released every 15 minutes starting at 10:45 and ending at 12:30 (if we have that many teams participating). Please try to race as early as you can, it will make things go much more smoothly if everyone is released close together. Once you have all of that figured out, contact me (Brennan7) or leave a note on the cache page letting us know who is on your team and what time you would like to race. First come, first serve.
This is a meet-n'-greet style event for everyone if you do not wish to race, do not have enough time to race, or show up last minute just to hang out and see everyone. Come have some fun! Maybe find a cache or two in the park with some new friends! Isnt that what events are for?

This year's race course will be located in Palmer Park. It is a total of 6 stages long, and expect a small puzzle or twist here and there, as is Tom.dog and my's style recently, but the course is designed to keep teams moving. It covers a distance between 1 and 2 miles (round-trip from HQ), so plan accordingly. As usual, teams will be timed from start to finish. Fastest time wins. We will have some small prizes for the 1st and 2nd place (maybe 3rd, if we have enough teams sign up) teams, but it's more about the race and having fun.

There will be a raffle this year, between 15 and 20 geocaching-related items. Cost will be the usual 1 for $1, 6 for $5. Donations are welcome if you have some extra stuff lying around that you are DYING to give away. We will have a small area set aside for you people who love trackables. Bring your collections and other trackables that need new homes.

We will not provide any food or water at the event, so bring your own sack lunch. There will also be limited seating, so bring your own fold-up or beach chairs.
Here is also a list of items that you will most likely need:
--Food and water (That's kind of a given)
--Cold weather gear (We live in Colorado, so that is also a given. We will race no matter what the conditions are like.)
--Sneakers or running shoes. (The winning teams from previous years ran the course, but again, its just for fun.)
--GPS
--Pen/paper (notes)
--Lawn chairs
--Camera (for snapping pictures of your team while you race of course! We don't ever get to see your adventures!)
--Tweezers or extraction device (There is one stage that you will most likely need these for.)

Here are the rules for the race. We will have a page for each team with rules/maps/starting coordinates/other shinanegans at the event as well.

1. You can only use your feet. That means no biking, horses, quads, or anything other than your feet allowed during the race.
2. Be stealthy. We do not want muggles taking stages of the race in the middle of the event.
3. If a muggle does ask what you are doing, tell them.
4. Place all stages back EXACTLY how you found them.
5. Respect the area at all times.
6. Do not cheat. It makes it no fun for anybody if someone cheats.
7. Be a good sport. Remember that the point of this event is having a good time.
8. HAVE FUN!!! This is supposed to be a fun event, not an insane competition.

We look forward to seeing you at the event this year! Who will win? Will OF-Erad, Pohka, Chihuahuajill, and Crumbcrunchers defend thier title? Will Team Bobcats seek revenge? Or will it be YOU this year?!

Unfortunately, this will be my last year hosting this event. Tom.Dog left for college this summer, so he cannot be here, and I will be doing the same next summer. It has been a very fun adventure every year and despite our incredibly busy high school lives, we've been able to keep this event going every year smoothly. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this for so long!! We will be passing off the reins to appleiphone6, who has been a great friend for the two of us and will certainly do a good job hosting this in the future. Lets take a look at the winner's history of this event, five years have flown by!!

MCDRE#1 (2010 -- Meadow Ridge Park): OF-Erad, Team Redline, Aftrats, CSprings1

MCDRE#2 (2011 -- Fox Run Park): Team Bobcats
