Posted coordinates bring you to a large beech tree on the Clark Trail with distinctive claw marks on its smooth bark.
Black bears are omnivores, with their diets varying depending on season and location. During summer, the diet is comprised largely of carbohydrate rich fruits and berries. In autumn, to prepare for winter hibernation, bears prefer to feed on fat and protein rich nuts such as beechnuts. This is a quick and easy multi along the Clark Trail. The final is located approximately 43 feet from the tree, straight in from the trail.
