Geocache Description:

This multi involves a walk through the Blue Hole Reserve. It combines history and natural beauty. The reserve is predominantly replanted coastal scrub, grassland and woodland. Engineers attempting to keep the estuary permanently open to the sea cut a channel on the western side, believing Ritchie Point would provide protection and reduce sand deposits. The Blue Hole seen today is the stranded river bed leading to the earlier mouth.

Happy hunting!

As you walk along the track take time to listen and try to spot the many different birds that make this reserve home such as superb fairy wrens, red-browed finch, yellow-rumped thornbills, willy wagtails.

The Blue Hole is also a great place for a swim. It is very deep. There is also safe swimming for younger children in the shallows along the river.

Dogs are welcome all year round.

You don't need to leave the track to retrieve the cache.
