Geocache Description:

Cache placed at a past location of a sawmill. A park and grab.

The cache is placed at the site of the Curtis brothers sawmill 1930 to 1971 - The dam is near the corner of Mill and Peabody Streets. SR p 47. It is easily accessed from Peabody street. The mill was burned by vandals in 1971. The penstock, horizontal iron wheel, axle, and gears can still be seen. The cache is a midium sized tupper ware container placed in a obvious location. Easy find. A TB and some coins were placed in it.

There's another significant ruin very close up river. From the Curtis site you can see rapids. That's the site of Peabody, Averill saw and grist mill. This was #2, but it was too close to #1. The mill can be reached by crossing the river when it's low. Other wise drive around the corner and the ruins are a few feet downstream from Mill St bridge. Coords N 42 37.118 W 71 00.264
