Oh My Darling! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Rheneas: Unfortunately it is proving difficult to find the time and opportunity to maintain this cache given the change in work situation, so it is with a heavy heart that I bit farewell to this cache to free up this beautiful part of the city for a better maintained cache. Thanks to all who visited and found the cache in the past.

Geocache Description:

The Pyrmont Bridge is a swing bridge across Cockle Bay in Darling Harbour. First opened on 17 March 1858, the original structure was a wooden pile bridge with an iron centre 'swing panel' allowing ships to pass. In the first two weeks 20,000 pedestrians paid one penny toll to cross. The government bought the bridge from the Pyrmont Bridge Company in 1884 and abolished the toll.

The Pyrmont Bridge

A new steel bridge was constructed in 1902 to allow vehicular traffic to travel between Pyrmont and the CBD. In 1981 the bridge was designated for pedestrian and bicycle traffic only.

This cache replaces Philma's Oh Darling and "Oh" No Darling geocaches, both of which were hidden nearby but have since been archived. Philma has placed some excellent caches around Sydney Harbour and I would encourage you to seek and find them if you get a chance.

Stealth is required when searching for this cache as The Pyrmont Bridge is generally swarming with pedestrian muggles. While a pencil was placed in the container at the type of hiding, you are encouraged to bring your own writing implement. Be careful not to drop the cache when retrieving and replace it in the same place you found it for the enjoyment of future finders.
