Jumbo Pride Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

swimcd: I put this series together as a baby Jumbo, and I was able to take care of it while I was there. While I am not too far away now, I think it is time to step aside. During covid, I dont think its a bad idea to keep foot traffic around the school down, and by archiving these, I hope a future Jumbo cacher can place some hides of their own. I will be collecting the in-place containers this week.

Thanks to all who made the trip and the finds!

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Tufts University!

This Jumbo cache series, named after our mascot, will take you on a geocaching tour of our awesome campus.

Enjoy!

When I first came to Tufts as a high school senior, I fell in love with the campus. It was exactly what I had been looking for in a university: near a city, but with room to breathe; the right program, everything fit perfectly. The only downside-- incredibly few caches! So with this series, I want to introduce people to the Tufts that I love, and put some new caches out there. So, I hope you come to enjoy the University as much as I do! As this series is placed over a college campus, the muggle factor is high (more so in some places than others), so please be sure to use stealth. Extra kudos given for including pictures with your logs.

Happy Caching!!

You are now standing in front of the Tufts football field, which is also used by the track and field team, as well as our soccer team. Tufts is part of the NCAA's (National Collegiate Athletics Association) Third Division, which means that the school does not grant athletic scholarships to its students. However, this does not mean that we do not have a great athletics program. Many of our teams have won our conference championships over the past three years, including Men's Soccer and Women's Volleyball, and just last year (2014), our Women's Basketball team won the NCAA Championships , and became first-time national champions! Our football team has overcome a stride this year as well, breaking the conference-record for the longest losing streak of 32 games, and then winning for the first time in years. Go Jumbos!

Accessing the Cache: The cache is accessible during daylight hours, and the entrance to the field is noted below in the waypoints. While there are signs posted that the track is only open to members of the Tufts community, it is possible to reach the cache without walking on the track, just make an immediate left after walking through them gate, and walk along the track in front of the bleachers.

Parking for this series is accessible to the non-Tufts public in the Dowling Hall parking garage on Boston Avenue for a fee of eight dollars, or along Boston Avenue free of charge… Anywhere else is at your own risk!

Super special thank you to Tufts Facilities and Linda Snyder to approving the placement for this series of Geocaches!!
