In Victoria there are spectacular sceneries and amazing geocaches to discover. Some of them are hidden in nature’s most precious gems but this also means you can’t just drive there. If you put in the extra effort you will be rewarded with lasting memories and that knowing smile on your face and the smiley in your log. Overnight or multi-day hiking isn’t rocket science and everyone can do it. After all millions of people have done it before and our ancestors travelled this way.

In December 2014 we showed a little bit about the topic but now it's time to get some practice. If you missed the info night, don't worry because you can still join in. Either you are confident enough to pack your own backpack our contact us so we can assure you won't leave the important stuff at home.

Come along this free trip - from geocachers for geocachers - and learn how it can be done under some supervision. The event will be on the whole weekend night but you are more than welcome to just join us for the dinner in Healesville on Sunday night (The logbook will be there and you can attend the event this way). This is the planned itinerary:

  • Friday night: Camp at Cooks Mill - 2WD accessible (optional)
  • Saturday Day: Get an early 9 am start and hike up to the saddle via Messmate Track. If you feel a bit adventurous follow the Well's Cave Track up to the ridge line otherwise go left via Canyon Track. Both Tracks join up at Sugarloaf Peak and from there we will continue together to the Farmyard.
  • Saturday Evening: Sharing fun stories and playing some "would you rather" over a cup of chocolate before crawling into our tents.
  • Sunday: Continuing along the ridge line to the Cathedral and descent down Ned's Gully. From there we'll hike along Little River Track west of the creek which leads us back to Cook's Mill.
  • After hike dinner: 7pm Innocent Bystander in Healesville (Let us know if you will come so we can make a booking - space is very tight. If just rock up, you might be left in the rain.)
If you aren't sure about the equipment you have at home, just contact us well in advance we will tell you if it's fit for duty. Please try to make it on time since we'll hike out Saturday morning 9 am. BYO food and water (!) There is no water source at the Farmyard campsite.
