Geocache Description:

This is a five-stage multi, involving a road trip!

There is nearby parking at each of the stages, each of which has information to find to help you get to the final stage.

The initial coordinates are on the sidewalk of Thames St. N. just north of the railroad tracks in Ingersoll.

At the starting coordinates, look to the west and take note of the 3-digit number above the yellow R. This number is ABC. Add A+B+C to give the two-digit number DF.

Then it's time to load up for a road trip! Drive southeast on Thames St. for 750 m, and turn left on Canterbury St. Follow it around the curve to the right onto Harris St. and then take the ramp onto Highway 401 east towards Toronto. Proceed 112 km and then take the 407ETR eastbound ramp. Continue 31 km further east. This part of the trip will cost you about $10, unless you have a transponder, in which case it's around $4.00. [Alternatively, you can take the free route by continuing on highway 401 into Toronto, and then take highway 400 northbound towards Barrie. You'll rejoin the road trip just north of Toronto.]

Next, take the ramp to Highway 400 northbound towards Barrie. Proceed 214 km north, making sure to take the correct split onto highway 400 on the north side of Barrie. It is along here that you will find Stage 2, at the following coordinates:

N 44º D6.F16, W 079º 39.44D.

The number of kilometres to Parry Sound on the roadside sign is the three digit number TUV. Add U+V to get W, and T+U+V to get X.

Around Parry Sound the highway 400 turns into number 69. Continue 140 km northwards towards Sudbury, and then take the ramp to Highway 17 westbound towards Sault Ste. Marie. Travel westwards on Highway 17 for 303 km. Near the end of this section you will come to Stage 3, at the following coordinates:

N 46º U0.UX9, W 083º W9.7W8.

At this stage you will see a yellow and black sign underneath a flashing yellow light. Y=the number of black stripes.

Continue along Highway 17 westbound until it turns into Trunk Rd. Follow the signs towards the Bridge to USA: merge onto Wellington St., left on Huron St. (which is Highway 17B), and finally the 3rd right into the bridge plaza. Proceed over the bridge to Michigan.

After clearing customs and paying the bridge toll, continue southbound on Interstate 75 towards Florida. You will cross one of the most amazing bridges along the way, the Mackinac Bridge from the upper peninsula to the lower peninsula of Michigan. Lake Michigan is off to your right and Lake Huron to your left. After 233 km from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the right fork, US Highway 127 south towards Lansing. After about 88 km more, there is another fork in the road. This time take the left fork, US Highway 10 eastbound. Continue 36 km east and take the Michigan Highway 30 exit toward West Branch. Immediately take a left onto M-30, also called North Meridian Road, and proceed 17 km south. Turn left onto East Freeland Rd. and then, after 11 km, right onto South Sasse Rd. Go to the following coordinates:

N 43º 31.YCU, W 084º 13.CCY.

You have now arrived at Stage 4. Determine the place name of this Township Hall. Remember this name for deciphering the location of the cache, at the end of the road trip.

Continue the trip by retracing the route on South Sasse Road back north to Freeland Rd. This time turn right onto West Freeland and proceed 3 km east. Turn right onto M-47, which is South Main St. and later South Midland Road, for just over 5 km, and then turn left onto the funniest named street in Michigan, Tittabawassee Rd. After 10 km take the ramp onto I-675 southbound, which then joins I-75 south towards Flint after 8 km. Go southbound for about 53 km, and then take I-69 east to Port Huron. Proceed 107 km due east and take the bridge to Canada route over to Sarnia. After clearing Canadian customs, carry on eastwards on the Highway 402 towards London.

After 104 km Highway 402 merges onto the 401. Proceed 31 km to exit 216, then turn left at the first lights over the bridge. Turn right after 2 km onto Thomas St. and pull into the gravel parking lot on the right.

Now, do you remember the place name from the stage 4 stop? The cache is located at

N 43º zeroI.SRO, W 080º fiveG.E(L1)I

Be careful where you step! A long reach is needed to liberate this cache from its hiding place.
