Geocache Description:

Come help with invasive species removal (English Ivy)! This park is undergoing a major restoration project, and our cleanup will support those efforts. And there are a half dozen geocaches in the park, too :) You will also see the coveted 'CITO weekend' souvenir appear in your profile when you log your attendance. Bring the whole family (must sign consent form for all minors, tho.)

When: Sunday, April 26, 12-2:00 pm (raffle will be at 2:00)
Who: Geocachers or not (any children under 14 need to be parent/guardian-accompanied).
Where: Whipple Creek Park, west of the Clark County Event Center in north Vancouver - Since the ivy the Park wants us to work on will not be near the main Park parking lot, please see the updated coords. These are for the staging area. I have added parking coords, too. This is the gate at the end of 31st Avenue. The Park folks will unlock the gate at 11:30 for us that day, and you can pull past the gate and park along the road there before it dips down the hill. We will then walk down the hill to the CITO staging area.
Sign: Consent form for minors (see Gallery, or http://www.parkhero.org/PDF/minorconsent.pdf) They will need to print the minor consent form, have a parent/guardian sign it, and bring it with them that day. If they are under 14, then the parent/guardian must attend as well (I will have copies available onsite).
Bring:Bring a friend or neighbor! Bring clippers, long handled loppers, even small hand saws, gloves, and water bottles , if you have them, though some tools will be provided. Can bring beverages or snacks if desired (we will have some snacks, though). Bring sunscreen or rain gear, depending! The park can be muddy, the Park Lady says wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.

The park staff will bring a table and canopy, tools, snacks, a large water jug, gloves, etc. We will be cutting the ivy down from the trees and removing an area of about 5 feet out from around the tree. That is the goal, but it may not be entirely possible because the ground is uneven and there are slopes.

Do: Please log a will-attend!

So many of our favorite geocaches are hidden in parks, so this is your chance to give back. It's just two hours of your time, and is so appreciated! We'll start with a short safety meeting at noon, take a quick group photo, then get to work. Meet at 2:00 back at the starting point for a raffle (must be present to win) When you are done, there is the sweet reward of geocaches to be found in the rest of the park!
