Big Cow Series- Chatty Belle Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

COC_BeccaDay: It sounds like this one has gone missing and since I live in CA now, I can't do maintenance. Too bad. I hope someone else places a cache here so others visit Chatty Belle.

Geocache Description:

The "Big Cow Series" will be highlighting the many large cows around the state.  This is the first hidden in the series but more will follow.  Stay tuned for a bookmark of the series and enjoy your time spent caching in America's dairyland.

This cache is hidden near two interesting attractions so it is worth a stop.

This cache is hidden as part of the "Big Cow Series" and is hidden near Chatty Belle, the world's largest talking cow! I remember stopping here as a child on the way across the state to visit my great-grandparents. There used to be a calf with Chatty Belle and when I visited as a teenager I found it on it's side. Later, the calf was stolen. But still, it's fun for the young and the young at heart to visit Chatty Belle.

The other attraction on this site is the World's Fair Pavilion. From the City of Niellsville website: "When Clark Prudhon, of Pruden Steel Buildings in Evansville, Wisconsin learned that the state was about to cancel plans for an exhibit at the 1964 World's Fair, he contacted architect John Steinman from Monticello, Wisconsin, and directed him to design a low cost structure utilizing materials provided by his company. The result was a Modernistic style rotunda. At the close of the fair, teh structure was to be demolished. Ivan Wilcox purchased the structure and had it dismantled and trucked to Boscobel, Wisconsin. In 1965, Central Wisconsin Broadcasting Inc., owned by Howie and Dorothy Sturtz, purchased the building parts and had the structure reconstructed."

Permission was granted by Kevin Grap, President of the Central Wisconsin Broadcasting, Inc.
