As horse owners we would like to pay homage to the horses that fought in WWI
It is estimated that 8 million horses died during the four years of war – more than 136,000 of them were from Australia. Only one returned home.
Horses were targeted by both sides to weaken their enemies. In particular, the German Navy fired at ships laden with horses and donkeys, which led to thousands of animals dying in the middle of the ocean.
Horses used in the First World War (Walers)
It is not often that we find ourselves in Melbourne's Western suburbs.
With some time to spare, in between a wedding and the reception, we thought that we might invite you to an event in honour of ANZAC Day horses.
From 16:00-17:00
Tea, coffee and Anzac biscuits will be available.
BYO mug or cup.
