Rhode Island
Star - 2

To honor Rhode Island’s 225th anniversary of statehood, the Rhode Island Star is presented as a part of "Stars Across America," which is an effort to have a geoart star placed in each of the fifty states. This series contains 51 total geocaches in two separate areas of Arcadia Wildlife Management Area in southwestern Rhode Island.
This geocache is a part of the first area (Rhode Island Star East), which contains caches #1 through #21. Here are some things you should know about this portion of the series:

  • Rhode Island Star East is an approximate 4 mile loop and may take at least 4 hours to complete.
  • Be sure to bring water, snacks (or lunch), bug spray, extra batteries, sturdy footwear, a pen and notepad, and anything else appropriate for a lengthy hike. Also, be sure to plan ahead and pay attention to the time as these trails can be dangerous after sunset.
  • All caches are along established trails in Arcadia Management Area, although some portions of these trails may be slightly overgrown. A trail map is provided below for basic navigation through the area.
  • All geocache containers are small, camouflaged lock and lock containers hidden in generally obvious locations (hints are provided along with the coordinates). No geocache is hidden in stone walls. Do not disassemble any walls!
  • Partial coordinates for the Rhode Island Star - Final GC5QXX8 can be found in four (4) of the Rhode Island East caches. They are located inside the lid and on the back of the logbook. Record these numbers to complete the series. See the listing for the Final for more information.
  • As hunting is allowed in Arcadia Management Area, please ensure you wear at least 200 sq. in. of blaze orange as required during hunting season. More information can be found at http://www.dem.ri.gov or http://www.eregulations.com.
The geocache is not at the listed coordinates. It is recommended that cachers complete the series in numerical order, using the provided trail map as guidance.

To obtain the actual coordinates, a simple multiple choice question based on Rhode Island knowledge must be answered. The answer should be easy to find with minimal internet research. A hint is provided with the coordinates.
