Stevens Swamp lies in a basin surrounded by low, forested hills, thus creating a variety of wetlands. They are ephemeral streams, an open pond, a red maple swamp, a grassy marsh and a peat moss bog. This provides habitat for a great variety of plants and animals. This pond was created by a dam on a brook, with the original dating back to the late 1700s.
