This is a geocache along a fairly new interpretive trail in West Brookfield. The cache will take you as far as the unnamed pond that was originally dammed for the mill, but the trail continues on! Growing up in the area, I never knew the history of these woods as we explored the trails in the nearby state forest. I was very happy to learn that the East Quabbin Land Trust had purchased the property and established a nice hiking trail.
It's a 15- to 20-minute walk to the cache from the parking coordinates. There's room for one car at the kiosk/parking, but there are other places to park along the road. A private driveway shares the area of the trailhead, so please do not park near the trailhead. Dogs are allowed, and the policy is posted at the kiosk. I believe hunting is allowed, so remember the blaze orange during those times of year!
The cache is an ammo box (donated by my father) and it's full of swag for the little ones and a special prize for the FTF. This is our first cache, so we hope you enjoy it!
