The Branch Pond Trail runs north into the Lye Brook Wilderness. Vermont has eight designated wilderness areas. In the wilderness areas, blazes are at a minimum and there is no mechaized equipment allowed. Not even a bicycle. This is to allow a more remote experience.
After about 2.5 miles on this trail you will enter the wilderness area. It is about 4.2 miles to Bourne Pond from this trailhead. Bourne Pond is a remote pond that is truly beautiful. Well worth the hike and there are campsites near the pond. Also there are a couple privies nearby. There is also a water spring which can be located from nearby signs.
This cache is not far from the trailhead. It's just "hanging" out there ready to be found.
