Starting at the bottom carpark it is best to walk up the forest road at first. This will lead you up onto the kilfinan way. The ' path' is questionable at times. Recent works installing the hydro-electiric pipeline has left some really muddy areas. Final 100m will require leaving the 'path' and crossing a patch of stumps so could be tricky to some. Damp conditions underfoot at times.
As you approach the cache you will see the remains of the old resverior wall that collapsed causing a local disaster as waters crashed into the village below.
A new weir has been built down stream of the reservior and the community forest is now harnessing the power through a hydro-electric scheme.
The paths are being improved so expect the difficulty level to be decreased at some point.
