Geocache Description:

While enjoying our hike along the Ponanagset river, this location beckoned to us. We will celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary soon and the white birch was our wedding "flower" so birch trees hold special meaning to us. The background image is a photo I took at our NH vacation spot.

In season, check out the unusual Cardinal flower growing along the river. Barred owls were calling when we hid this in the early evening.

This one blends in very well. Please be sure to replace it *exactly* as hidden, with the container "upside down". From the yellow trail, take a right at the waypoint provided, then follow your GPSr to the left at the second waypoint provided. This trail, while not yet blazed, will lead you to the river and then will meet up with the yellow trail again, near the Milling Around on the Ponaganset cache. The hike is quite gentle with little elevation change, almost no bushwacking, and mostly wide, easy to follow trails. Container is not in a stone wall and is NOT snow friendly. Dawn to dusk caching only. Coordinates averaged with a Garmin GPSr and iPhone. Please sign the log (online finds without a corresponding physical log signature will be deleted) and rehide exactly as found to prevent muggling. Don't forget to bring a pen!

Hunting will likely be allowed in season so wear your orange.

The Hayfield Property is part of the Foster Land Trust and this cache is placed with their permission. Interestingly, the name Hayfield comes from the old property owner, not the hayfields you may see here!

Parking is along the side of the road near provided trailhead coordinates. The east side of the road is better as there is no ditch. Alternately you may park on East Killingly Road, at another trailhead, if you want a through hike or just a longer trip, if you're really hardy! We hope you enjoy this property as much as we have.... http://img.geocaching.com/cache/3f2ddf71-2de0-41c2-962b-c7f0cf7934f2.jpg?rnd=0.8659741 Map: http://img.geocaching.com/cache/3f2ddf71-2de0-41c2-962b-c7f0cf7934f2.jpg?rnd=0.8659741
