Geocache Description:

A ten-stage multi that will take you to nine sights around Slater Park in Pawtucket. After obtaining information from each of the nine locations and performing some simple math, you will be led to the tenth and final stage, the cache!

Slater Park is one of the first if not the first park I ever visited. With so much to do here it's somewhere my parents would take me often as a child. Since I started geocaching last year I've been visiting more often with plenty of great caches both in the park and along the Ten Mile River Greenway which runs through it.

This multi will take you to ten stages in Slater Park. The first nine are interesting spots located throughout the park which will provide you with the information necessary to find the tenth and final stage. The first stage is located by the Newport Avenue entrance to the park. The full multi will take you on an approximately 2.5 mile loop around the park. It's an easy walk with absolutely no bushwhacking necessary (terrain rating only reflects the total distance), but you can drive to within 100' of each stage if you prefer to complete the multi that way.

The coordinates for the final cache are N 41° 5S.TUV W 071° 2W.XYZ. Below are instructions for the information you'll need to take from each stage, and after that, how you'll be able to calculate using those numbers and some simple mathematics.

Stage 1: Rhode Island’s First Aviator

Here you'll find a plaque which has two years on it located in the top left and right corners. The year in the top left corner is 188A.

Stage 2: World War Memorial

This memorial was erected by the Helpmates Club and was dedicated on November B, 1939.

Stage 3: Picture Frame

There is a plaque at the base of this sculpture which is dated September C, 2002.

Stage 4: Fanny the Elephant

The plaque near Fanny is dated November D, 2007.

Stage 5: Ten Mile River Greenway

From this point the scenic Ten Mile River Greenway extends E.5 miles south along the Turner Reservoir to East Providence's Kimberly Ann Rock Memorial Field.

Stage 6: Looff Carousel

This historic carousel has a plaque on it commemorating a restoration project which began in 19F8.

Stage 7: Daggett House

The Daggett House has a plaque on it stating that it was erected in 16G5.

Stage 8: Veterans Memorial Fountain

At the base of this memorial is a plaque stating that it was dedicated in July 19H0.

Stage 9: Slater Park Pond Gazebo

The number of letters in the last name located directly above the stairs to the gazebo is I.

Stage 10: The Cache!

The coordinates for the final are N 41° 5S.TUV W 071° 2W.XYZ and can be calculated with the information you found above and the simple equations you'll find below:

S.) G - I

T.) I - A

U.) E + I

V.) D - F

W.) D - G - E

X.) E

Y.) B - D - E

Z.) C - H

You can check your coordinates with the geochecker link found below, and as always, happy caching!
