LIANA's GEOCACHING QUEST
Liana recently joined the game and decided that she wanted to do a series of caches, GC0001, GC0002, GC0003, GC0004 and GC0005, in five consecutive days.
See if you can determine, from the clues below, on which day she attempted each of the caches, what type each cache is and what happened at the particular cache. Use the tables in the picture gallery to record your findings.
Then use the information in the Final Table to determine the correct coordinates of this cache using the given formula.
CLUES
- She attempted GC0001 a day before she attempted the cache where she traded some SWAG. The cache where she traded SWAG was an Unknown (Mystery/Puzzle) Cache and, being a master of puzzles herself, she had no problems solving it!
- GC0005, where she did not trade SWAG, was the last cache she attempted and it was not the Event Cache.
- She could not find GC0002 which was not a Letter Box.
- GC0004 was attempted the day before the Traditional cache but the day after the cache where she discovered the Travel Bug.
- The cache she attempted the first day was the Multi-Cache, and was not the one where she discovered the Travel Bug.
- GC0005 is not a Traditional Cache
- At the cache she attempted on the 4th day she took nothing, left nothing and signed the log.
First replace your description entered in the final table by numbers, thus:
1 = Traditional cache
2 = Mystery/Puzzle/Unknown cache
3 = Multi-Cache
4 = Letterbox Hybrid Cache
5 = Event Cache
1 = Discovered Travel Bug
2 = Retrieved Geocoin
3 = Traded SWAG
4 = TNLNSL
5 = DNF
The Correct Coordinates are:
S 26 AB.CDE E 027 PQ.RST
Where:
AB = [0] [(3, A) + (2, A)]
CDE = [(1, B)] [3, B] [5, A) - (1, C)]
PQ = [(3, A)] [(2, B) + (5, B)]
RST = [(5, C) + (3, A)] [(1, C) + (1, B)] [(4, C)]
(2, B) = Row 2, Column B. That would be a 5 - (DNF)
Each answer between [] is one digit.
