Localiza-se no lugar dos Trinta Reis (Água D’Alto) o Museu Hidroelétrico.
Centrais elétricas na Região Autónoma dos Açores
Na Região Autónoma dos Açores existem atualmente 28 centrais elétricas em funcionamento, que perfazem uma potência combinada de aproximadamente 236 MW. A esmagadora maioria da potência instalada neste arquipélago é de origem térmica (86,5%), sendo os combustíveis utilizados o fuelóleo e o gasóleo. Para esta elevada percentagem contribui particularmente a central do Caldeirão na ilha de São Miguel, a maior dos Açores.
É também de assinalar a produção elétrica gerada com base na energia geotérmica e por intermédio das centrais do Pico Vermelho e de Ribeira Grande, casos únicos no país e que juntas perfazem 6,8% da potência instalada. Menos representativa é a energia hídrica, com apenas 3,8% do total destas ilhas.
Ribeira da Praia, central de fio-de-Água equipada com uma turbina Pelton que é alimentada pela ribeira da Praia. Pertence ao Grupo EDA – Eletricidade dos Açores. O aproveitamento conta atualmente com 0,8 MW de potência instalada. Situa-se no lugar de Ribeira da Praia, freguesia de Água de Alto, concelho de Vila Franca de Campo, ilha de São Miguel.

“Central Hídrica da Ribeira da Praia” -1911
A construção da “Fábrica da Praia” ou Central da Praia iniciou-se no ano de 1910, pelas mãos do senhor António Cordeiro, irmão do falecido Engenheiro José Cordeiro e gerente da Empreza de Eletricidade e Gaz a partir de 1909. Em 1910 foi instalado na central um único grupo gerador: uma turbina hidráulica horizontal, do tipo Francis Sypral, com a potência de 180 cv, construída por Theodore Bell & Cia e Kriens, Lucerne, Suíça bem como um alternador trifásico, de 150 kVA e 3000 Volts, construído pela Société de Electricité Alioth, Suíça. Neste, que foi o seu primeiro empreendimento, o senhor António Cordeiro, contou com o apoio técnico do Engenheiro José de Amaral. Esta central entrou em funcionamento em 1911, tendo sido desativada em 1974. Atualmente está a funcionar como Museu Hidroelétrico da Ribeira da Praia.

Power stations in the Azores
In the Azores there are currently 28 power plants in operation, totaling a combined output of approximately 236 MW. The overwhelming majority of the installed power in the archipelago is of thermal origin (86.5%), and fuel used fuel oil and diesel. For this high percentage contributes particularly the central pothole on the island of São Miguel, the largest of the Azores.
Also noteworthy electrical production generated based on geothermal energy and through the central Pico Vermelho and Ribeira Grande, only cases in the country and which together account for 6.8% of installed capacity. Less is representative hydropower, with only 3.8% of these islands.
Ribeira da Praia- Water-to-wire center equipped with a Pelton turbine is fed by the river Beach. It belongs to the EDA Group - Azores Electricity. The use currently has 0.8 MW of installed capacity. It is located in the place of Ribeira Beach, High-Water parish, Field of Vila Franca municipality, São Miguel.

The construction of the "Beach Factory" or Beach center began in 1910 at the hands of Mr. Anthony Lamb, who died Brother Engineer José Cordeiro Enterprises and manager of Electricity and Gaz from 1909. In 1910 it was installed the central one generator: a horizontal hydraulic turbine, the Francis Sypral, with the power of 180 hp, built by Theodore Bell & Co. and Kriens, Lucerne, Switzerland as well as a three-phase alternator, 150 kVA and 3000 Volts built by Société Electricité Alioth, Switzerland. In this, it was his first venture, Mr. Anthony Lamb, had the technical support of Engineer José Amaral. This plant became operational in 1911 and was deactivated in 1974. Currently is working as hydroelectric Museum of Ribeira Beach.
