This cache brings you to Factory Hollow. This area was formerly home to an industrial area of Greenfield and is the former site of mills from 1784. There were four-story granite factory buildings built in 1830, where woolens were made for the Union Army during the Civil War. Operations ceased in 1872 and the factory burned in 1933. A historical sign marking this sight is all that remains here.
This spot is a rest area along Route 2 and was the location of my very first find, the former "Rte 2 Factory Hollow".
