Geocache Description:

A Punka13 style cache to celebrate Leap Year 2016 overlooking the Connecticut River along McClelland Farm Road in Deerfield. Although the container is "kid friendly", the hide is not. But I liked this spot for this sized container. Be careful in your retrieval of the cache, as even today on Easter Sunday, with no mud at all, it was a slippery placement and climb back up. As noted in the nearby hides, this road can be muddy, it has ruts, it is not plowed in the winter and may be icy in other seasons. Travel at your own risk. You can always park at the end and walk the road instead.

Leap year (also known as an intercalary year or a bissextile year) is a year containing one additional day added to keep the calendar year synchronized with the astronomical or seasonal year. Because seasons and astronomical events do not repeat in a whole number of days, calendars that have the same number of days in each year drift over time with respect to the event that the year is supposed to track. By inserting an additional day or month into the year, the drift can be corrected. A year that is not a leap year is called a common year. In the Gregorian calendar, each leap year has 366 days instead of the usual 365, by extending February to 29 days rather than the common 28.
