This is my first cache, so we hope you like it. It is fairly
easy to get to, however at the end of course it heads off the
beatin' path. There is an old public logging road that leads down
near a swamp to get close, 4x4 suggested. There are two swamp/ponds
nearby, one to the NNW and one ot the SSE. Connecting the two is at
least one babbling brook trickling down small waterfalls. Depending
on the season, the sound is quite pretty (Though, we'll admit,
we're fighting with the beavers for ownership of the ponds. ;} ).
Get to the 'base' of what you're looking for, and it will become
more obvious. Should be hard to see if you aren't up close. The
case is an old large military grenade container, olive green.
The logs below state someone has moved the second box, and you
should now look for "4 trees growing as one." I have been up there
recently, and did find the box after a short jaunt.
Enjoy the walk, and soon we'll be back again to hide more stuff and
maybe even a third stage.
2010-08 UPDATE!
Stryker and son recently visited the boxes at both stages. They
seem to be in good order. The rubber seals on that grenade box sure
do work well! Please, though, PROPERLY close the box with both
pressure seals on both ends.
I must admit, the terrain has changed significantly in nearly 10
years.. they've been clearing some of the trees and making meadows
right near the second box. It even took myself an my buddy 20
minutes to find it ourselves.
As the winter comes back around in a few months, I will inform
everyone now that, if you intend to hunt for either box with snow
on the ground to be wary of the hills. You also may not find the
second box without digging.
