Geocache Description:

CRESWICK

Location: 18 km North of Ballarat on the Midland Hwy and 129 km North-West of Melbourne

Population 1855: 30,000

Population 2015: 3,000

Creswick is an unexpected gem. The town combines heritage with a rich artistic and cultural history, and a pioneering tradition in land conservation and forestry. It also set the pace of national workplace reform and was the birthplace of an extraordinary number of well-known identities in Australia’s recent past.

Creswick itself has a wide, picturesque main street featuring a number of carefully maintained heritage buildings. Given the town’s sedate pace today, it needs a little imagination to conjure up the roaring gold-rush days of the 1850’s when the horse-drawn coaches of Cobb & Co rattled through the throng and the town boasted 37 pubs along both sides of the promenade.

Creswick has many Historic Buildings from the 1860s. Registered historic buildings include a bluestone gold office (1859), the School of Mines and Technology (1891) and later Bank of New South Wales, the town hall (1876), the hospital (1863) and the railway station complex (1874). The Creswick museum is in the town hall.

Solve this simple puzzle about Creswick's historic buildings/places to locate the final coordinates. Firstly, organize the pictures of historic buildings/places in chronological order from earliest to latest, 1 - 10. Secondly, determine the corresponding letter from the historic buildings/place name with the cache note instructions below. Thirdly, convert the selected letter to a number in the usual manner. Finally, apply the numbers to the South and East coordinates per the formula given here:

South 37 AB.CDE, East 143 FG.HIJ

where A is the "8th" letter of building/place 1

where B is the "4th" letter of building/place 2

where C is the "13th" letter of building/place 3

where D is the "7th" letter of building/place 4

where E is the "10th" letter of building/place 5

where F is the "2nd" letter of building/place 6

where G is the "7th" letter of building/place 7

where H is the "8th" letter of building/place 8

where I is the "4th" letter of building/place 9

where J is the "11th" letter of building/place 10
