Geocache Description:

Put on your toughest adventure gear and join Indiana Jones and Lara Croft on this Tomb Raider Event.

Meet at the cave entrance at 10:30am.

This event is going to held at the entrance to the little known Skipton Caves.

These lava made  caves are the largest known chambers in Australia  created from volcanic action made millions of years ago.

100 years ago the locals used to hold balls in these caves

The event is at the entrance of the caves and is scheduled to start at 10:30am and finish 13:30pm .

For those wishing to enter the caves, two treasure hunts have been organised. One for the kids and then a separate one for the adults., ........, also wear some sturdy/ grippy shoes.

There will be prizes to be won.

The caves are relatively easily accessible, though the ground is a hard packed clay it can be quite slippery in sections , so good gripping boots are recommended. A bright torch of your own to use during the treasure hunt is recommended.

The caves are very child friendly and good fun for kids who may enjoy a small sense of adventure.

Due to the black stone inside the cave, light tends to be absorbed, so some small children may find parts of the cave a bit daunting, though we intend to have it substantially lit. Particularly with a heap of geocache fortune seeking hunters with torches. .

The caves are naturally limited in their depth, so it's impossible to get lost and quite safe for all concerned in this respect.

There are 3 chambers, the third containing a water reservoir being more difficult to access than the others. For those wishing to access this section, a change of clothes or overalls, also a hard hat/bicycle helmet are recommended,

The caves are on private property and access has been granted with the farmers permission.

We intend to have prizes at the event.

The treasure hunt will be conducted in stages to accomodate adults and children.

The organisers of this event have incurred a cost to reserve the use of the area, as such a donation of $10 per adult and $5 per child is requested to assist in cost recovery.
