This cache is part of a geo-art series dedicated to interesting facts about California. The caches in this series are all within the La Purisima Mission hiking trail areas. Bring a pen/pencil to sign log sheets, tweezers for any tiny caches, small items to trade, and hiking necessities (food, water, sunscreen, etc.). Beware of poisonous plants and wildlife. Please take care of all caches and replace exactly as found to ensure they last a while.
There is an amazing petroglyph of unknown origin in Maze Stone County Park in Hemet, Riverside County. Inscribed on a large boulder, the three-foot square picture is a maze formed by four interlocking swastikas. There are several theories about the origin, including a 15,000 year old remnant of the Cascadians, who were thought to be ancestors to the Maya, or perhaps it was left by Chinese Buddhist Monks at about A.D. 500.
To find the petroglyph, take state highway 74, then go north 3.2 miles on California Ave to Maze Stone Park.

Wait
What's that?
(silence)
There again
An animal just ran by
My heart skipped a beat at that moment
Thought it was a hungry mountain lion
(silence)
Here's a geochecker:
