In the redwood forests just north of Santa Cruz, there is a strange location that claims to be a gravitational anomaly. There is no clear explanation as to why things seem to go against gravity at this and other similar locations around the country, but it definitely intrigues curious visitors. The site was discovered in 1939 when developers hoping to construct a summer cabin site, but noticed their measuring equipment wasn't reading right. Instead of continuing with the project, they switched to tourism mode.
The site boasts a crooked house where a person can stand at strange angles, and a board that appears to be level but water runs against gravity up the board. It might be from optical illusions or from gravitational oddities; whatever the case, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area.
