Geocache Description:

This cache is not entirely winter friendly, but due to its large size, It can be found with anything less than a foot of snow.

Norris Reservation is located in the town of Norwell, Massachusetts and maintained the Trustees of Reservations. Bordering the North River (famous for shipbuilding), a system of about 2 miles of trails spans just under 150 acres. There is a dirt parking lot located across from the post office on Dover St and there is a long prominent dirt walkway leading into the park. A lake is at the starting path which is full of fish, and fishing is allowed. The trail goes over a series of dams which flood in the spring. Below the dams is a picnic area on an island between two locks of the dam.

The trail then splits into a large loop. A boathouse on the North River can be found off to the left and Gordon Pond, also rich with fish, can be found off to the right. On the way there is an old gristmill site and a newly made turtle sanctuary.

The park is dog friendly, but please pick up after your pet.

The cache is a large metal tin about 100 ft off the trail. It is best accessed from turning off the main trail onto a trail that goes up a hill, across from a picnic area on the Third Herring Brook. At the top of the hill, turn left and begin your search. There are some briars, so beware, but luckily there are no signs of Poision Ivy.

Near the cache you can see a large tree with a giant knot. The tree is several feet around and very old.
