The Pocumtuck Range in Deerfield is rich in history. The rock formations are incredable, going back to the Triassic/Jurassic time era. Plenty of hiking trails and wonderful views at the top. There are places to park down on Pine Nook Road. The ski area is private and did you know there were other ski areas on this mountain? Check them out and do the other caches that will bring you there, thanks to Danceman and Mathteacher!
The name "Pocumtuck" came from the early 1800s. It was a Indian Tribe and it is believed that this whole range is the remains of a big, beaver. Enjoy your visit and bring your own pen.
