La chiesa neogotica ha circa 150 anni. L'esterno, in pietra bianca delle cave di Rupingrande, è dominato dalla torre campanaria alta circa 50 metri. La campana è stata prodotta con il bronzo dei cannoni francesi catturati dai prussiani nella battaglia di Sedan (1870) e venne donata alla Comunità Luterana di Trieste personalmente dall'imperatore Guglielmo I. All'interno, le 10 vetrate colorate, tra cui spicca quella posta al centro dell'abside dedicata alla trsfigurazione di Cristo, ravvivano un ambiente spoglio. A contrastare con l'aspetto gotico dell'interno, vi sono due monumenti funebri neoclassici di Antonio Bosa, allievo di Canova.
La piccola piazza, denominata Largo Panfili, è dedicata ad un medico eroico caduto in battaglia nel 1938 nell'Africa Orientale. Nella stessa piazza, si trovava uno dei più famosi cantieri navali del mondo, il Cantiere Panfilli (con due elle!), fondato nel 1779 e chiuso nel 1851. Le imbarcazioni in legno costruite in questo cantiere erano apprezzate in tutto il mondo e avevano una durata di più di 50 anni, contro i 20 dei migliori cantieri inglesi. Molti erano i punti di forza nella produzione dei velieri tra cui una formula segreta per fare la pece. Purtroppo il Cantiere divenne obsoleto "dal trionfo del ferro sul legno" per la produzione delle navi.
The neo-Gothic church has about 150 years. The exterior, in white stone of Rupingrande quarries, is dominated by the bell tower about 50 meters. The bell has been produced with the bronze of French guns captured by the Prussians at the Battle of Sedan (1870) and was donated to the Lutheran Community of Trieste personally by Emperor Guglielm I. Inside, the 10 stained glass windows, among which that dedicated to trasfigurazione of Christ, revive a barren environment. To contrast with the interior gothic look, there are two funeral monuments neoclassical by Antonio Bosa, a pupil of Canova.
The small square, called Largo Panfili, is dedicated to a heroic doctor fell in battle in 1938 in East Africa. In the same square, there was one of the most famous shipyards in the world, the Shipyard Panfilli (with two elle!), Founded in 1779 and closed in 1851.
