Geocache Description:

The Wellfleet Health and Conservation Department has placed a number of caches around Wellfleet to help locals and tourists alike make it out to some of Wellfleet’s many beautiful trails and recreational areas.

The Drummer Cove conservation area includes multiple habitats including oak pine forest, salt marsh, tidal flat, and coastal bank. The area is within the recharge area to Drummer Cove and thus is an Area of Critical Environmental Concern in Wellfleet. Due to the variety of habitats, it is possible to see a variety of wildlife along the trail including box turtles, fiddler crabs, horseshoe crabs, birds, deer, and foxes. There are a number of benches along the trail to sit, rest, and enjoy the views.

Please stay on and near the trail! The cache is accessible without wandering into the underbrush where the vegetation does bite (mainly green briar and poison ivy). Also, being in New England, we advise you to check yourself for ticks after your geocaching adventure!
