Treble Clef #36 - Woodstock
Wusstet Ihr, dass dieses legendäre Festival letztendlich gar nicht in Woodstock sondern im 76Km Ort Bethel stattfand oder dass die gleichnamige Dokumentation einen Oscar erhielt? Um dieses Festival ranken sich seit Jahrzehnten so einige Gerüchte und andere Fakten sind wiederum völlig unbekannt. Joan Baez, die als Hauptact am Freitag auftrat, war im 6ten Monat schwanger. Der Auftritt von John Sebastian war überhaupt improvisiert, er war nicht für das Festival gebucht und wurde hinter der Bühne entdeckt. Der Legende nach stand er dermaßen unter Drogeneinfluss, dass er die Aufforderung nicht ablehnen konnte. Falls Euch der Name nichts sagt – er spielte in diversen Bands, aus denen in weiterer Folge The Lovin´ Spoonful und The Mamas And The Papas entstanden. Manche Bands die sehr wohl gebucht waren (und sogar auf Plakaten angekündigt) schafften es aufgrund des Verkehrs erst gar nicht zum Festival oder wurden wie eigentlich versprochen nicht vom Hubschrauber abgeholt und blieben so in ihren Hotelzimmern…
Diese Liste der außergewöhnlichen Ereignisse vor, während und nach dem Festival ließe sich beliebig fortsetzen, aber Ihr wollt ja Koordinaten ausrechnen, dafür müsst Ihr folgende Frage richtig beantworten: Welche Band weigerte sich ursprünglich, ohne Vorkasse aufzutreten und konnte erst durch die Drohung der Veranstalter, diese Tatsache der Menge kund zu tun überredet werden?

Did you know that this legendary festival didnt take place in Woodstock itself but in the 76km southwest located white hill community in Bethel? Ort that the documentary with the same name got an Oscar? Many fairytales are told about this festival and some other facts are unknown on the other hand. Joan Baez, who was the headliner on Friday was 6 months pregnant at the time. The appearance of John Sebastian was totally improvised, he was nver booked and was found backstage and according to legend he was under that heavy drug influece so he coudn´t reject the request to perform. In case this name is unknown to you – he was playing in various bands from which later on The Lovon Spoonful and The Mamas Ans The Papas were formed. Some bands that were booked (and even anounced on posters) didn´t make it to the festival because of the heavy traffic or weren´t picked up by the helicopter as promised and so stayed at their hotel rooms…
