There are the famous Rattlesnake peaks overlooking Squam Lake but it seems fewer know about Rattlesnake Mtn in Rumney - except for the rock climbers. I've lived within a few minutes drive of Rumney Rattlesnake for close to 40 years and never went up until a couple of weeks ago to get "Tony Rawk". Having done that hike, I decided perhaps a couple more caches were in order to entice others to make the hike and see the great view from the top.
Trail starts from Buffalo Road in Rumney but not at the big parking area for the rock climbers. The trailhead is quite close to the entrance to the Rumney dump. It has somewhat steep parts but this old geezer can make to the top in about 35 minutes so it shouldn't be any trouble unless you have a disability. When searching, remember where rattlesnakes are likely to hide.
