Geocache Description:

This is geocache #1 of 70 in the Deathly Hallows series.

As per the Harry Potter series of movies, the Deathly Hallows consists of three objects... perhaps the most powerful magical objects ever.
  - First, the cloak Of Invisibility which is the triangle in this geoart.  It surrounds and hides the other objects.
  - Second is the Resurrection Stone which is the round circle inside the triangle.
  - and Third, the Elder Wand which is the straight line running through the the circle all the way to the top of the cloak.

See here: http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/The_Tale_of_the_Three_Brothers for the Story of the Three Brothers, and the legend of the Deathly Hallows.

This series is over 8 miles all together and can be done in one day, or split into 2 or 3 days.  The access road off of Hwy 93 is good enough for any car to drive on, especially in the beginning.  The further in you go the rougher it gets, but you'll never need 4WD.... maybe just a little clearance in places.

The easiest place to start is at "Parking 1" (see the waypoints).  The access road follows roughly the bottom of the Cloak of Invisibility so you can drive in further if you wish and start the series in other places.  The road turns a little, and crosses the geocaches at DH18 which is hidden only about 10' from the road. This is also a good place to park.

If you want to split this into a couple of days, you can drive in to about DH20 or more but the road gets rougher the further you go.  There is lots of parking so drive as far as you're comfortable with and walk from there.

Food and Gas:
The nearest food/gas/water is the Loves Travel stop at the intersections of I-15 and US-93, about 10.3 miles south of the dirt road leading to the series.

Safety:
Remember this is the desert.  In the summer the temperature can get to 115° which is hot enough to hurt you if you aren't prepared.  I recommend during the hottest months (June thru September) that you start early in the day, when it's coolest.... or come back in November.  ;-)

There is no water available out here so bring what you need.  I recommend you carry 1 bottler (16.9oz or .5L) per person for each hour you expect to be out.  (Just for comparison, a gallon of water is 128oz, which is around 8 bottles of water.)  Too much water is better than too little!  Some web sites recommend as much as 1 Liter per hour depending upon your size, age, temperature and how hard you expect to work geocaching.

There is some trash and signs that people sometimes use this area for target practice.  If anyone is shooting use your best judgement and stay safe.  I did hear shooting across the highway when I hid this, but I've never seen anyone shooting on this side of the highway. For safety, leave a sign in your car window that you're out walking, or walking with your dog, and included your cell number.

Walking:
The whole series is around 8.5 miles if you do it all at once.  If you wish to split it, the outer triangle (the Cloak of Invisibility) is almost 5 miles around.  Depending upon where you park, the circle and the center line (Resurrection Stone and the Elder Wand) are over 4 miles.  The wand is 1.2 miles tall, so it's over 2 miles round trip.  The Stone is about 2 miles around.

The area is mostly flat with no big washes to cross.  The whole thing might give you 150' of elevation change.  The hardest walking is north of DH44 because it gets pretty rocky and uneven.

There are almost no thorns or plants with needles in this area (no cactus, no cholla, only yucca)

I saw a dozen  jack rabbits while hiding this series, but nothing else.  I did not see any signs of the desert tortoise but if you happen to run across one, remember they are a protected species.  You can look and take pictures, but do not touch or interfere with them.

I had good cell coverage through the whole series (Verizon) but I don't guarantee equal coverage for all carriers.

Caches:
All of the caches are in rock piles, cairns, except for 4 which are hidden in the trunks of dead Yucca plants, about 2' off the ground.  No plants were damaged while hiding these, please take the same care while searching for them.

Since I am responsible for performing maintenance if a cache is missing or damaged, I encourage you to leave a "Needs Maintenance" note, and/or contact me through my profile when you log your DNF. If you want to replace a container in order to log a find, you can go ahead and do that if you wish. If you replace one, let me know through the cache page or my profile page as mentioned above.

And finally, log only what you sign and sign only what you find. Cache on and stay strong.
