WHAT, The biggest living organism is Australia is near here. I don't believe you, is most likely the answer.
And in seeking confirmation from the internet it appears that science may not even be sure anymore. Its certainly not publicised and I am not going to give out the location of this plant, even if I could remember it. But if you do remember as you come to this location, look south off the ridge and you will notice some areas devoid of tall trees. A couple of these contain of plant known as Podocarpus lawrencei. The one I know to be the biggest is 4 hectares in size. I have only skimmed the edge in my admiration of this plant and to the best of my knowledge, no botanist has been able to explore all of the plant or collect tissue samples from it, so nobody can say if its one or more plants.
Its grows through suckering and fallen plants growing again like cuttings. You might be familiar of the alpine version.
As you head down this track, you will also come across some giant Shining Gums. Even when fallen they will block the view of the tallest person. I did have a particular tree that I wanted to place a cache under, but couldn't find it. Hopefully it hasn't fallen, but it had boles hanging off it, over a metre in size.
This cache marks the top of the Rooty Break Trail. For the most part, it is only a gap between the trees. While there is not much ground vegetation, you still need to be vary careful to stay on the track. Don't delete caches after they are found like this one as you may need them as waypoints to get back on course. As you go down the hill it does get easier to follow.
