great boat trip near civilization but away from it all.
This trip has been a favorite of mine for many years. it is a canoe trip on flat water that can be either 5 or ten miles depending on where you choose to take out. i belive that the site is accessable by car/ walking but i do not know from where. the real joy is the canoe trip itself.
there is a conoe rental place just off from extit 17 on i93 that will shuttle you to the put in or you can go to the put in yourself just north of the merrimack county jail in Boscawen. its coordinates are n43 21.809 w071 38.784. the 5 mile take out is approximately n43.19.048 w071 37.065 there is a park just by an old unused bridge. the ten mile takeout is at n43 16.930 w071 34.840 or just upstream from there if you use the canoe rental place. i always use this trip as a camp trip there are several sandbars about a mile below the old bridge.
