(EN) The block of stone, exhibited in front of the museum, belongs to the Holdvilágárok Dacit Tuff Formation and came from the large quarry at Csódi Hill near Dunabogdány, Visegrád Mts. (N Central Hungary). This rock is frequently referred to as andesite, but more precisely, it is dacite. The rising magma solidified just beneath the surface, arching up the cover beds, therefore the dacite mass of the hill has a peculiar lentil-shaped form, as shown by the cooling cracks observable in the quarry. The Csódi Hill rock is 15-16 million years old, which weans that it formed in the Miocene as most Hungarian andesite and dacite. It was earlier used locally as building stone, then for pavements and now for the construction of railroad and road beds (crushed) and embankments (in blocks).

(HU) A múzeum előtt álló kőtömb a dunabogdányi Csódi-hegynek a Holdvilágárki Dácittufa Formációba sorolt, korábban andezitként ismert, de valójában dácitnak minősülő kőzete (Visegrádi-hegység). A vulkáni olvadék a Csódi-hegy esetében nem érte el a felszínt, hanem közvetlenül alatta dermedt meg. A létrejött kőzettest lencseszerű alakját a kőzetnek a kőfejtőben látható hűlési repedései sejtetik. Mint a legtöbb hazai andezit és dácit, a miocénben keletkezett, 15-16 millió éve. Helyi építkezésekhez, útburkoló kőnek, az utóbbi évtizedekben inkább út-és vasútépítéshez és a dunai vízépítési és partvédelmi munkálatokhoz használják..
