I took a lovely hike out to see the state record black gum tree today and there was a cache there as well. I was shocked to see only 15 cachers had made the trek in 10 years. The tree alone is worth the trip but when you add in the old mill site and the lovely trails along the way it's a no brainer. At first when I found this sight I thought how about a puzzle about Stonewall Jackson or maybe on types of stonewalls, maybe even about Congessional feet dragging, but no, I wanted it to be an easy find to attract people to come out and visit. So grab your backpack and your waterbottle, lace up your hiking boots and jump in the car, you have to come out here and see for yourself. There's even a boat launch site if you want to shorten the distance a bit!
To get here take the Red blazed Mill Trail to the yellow blazed Lost Lake trail to the blue blazed Gum Tree trail to the yellow blazed Stonewall trail. Don't forget to continue on to see the tree!
