Judy (my fiancé), Alex (my father), and I (Jacques) have placed our very first cache in the Carlisle Town Forest.
As a kid I would ride my bike and occasionally camp in these woods. I can remember several huge pine trees. Some of these trees had some of the largest trunks I have ever seen. According to the Carlisle Conservation Commission, a tract of over one hundred virgin white pines trees in the forest where set aside for conservation in 1901. Many were over 100 feet tall, and would have been mature trees at the time of the Revolutionary War. Today, unfortunately, there are only a few still standing. It is rare to find a selection of virgin pine trees today, so please take some time to admire their beauty and this unique area
NOTE: I will visit this cache over the 4th of July (2011) weekend and replace the container and log. Thank you for all the wonderful comments
