An island a few kilometres off the coast of Rauma, Finland. There are some paths on the island, but tend to be overgrown.
The island of Kuuskajaskari where the cache is located was controlled by Finnish military until the year 2000. It is now owned by City of Rauma and open to everyone. The island has four 152 mm coastal artillery cannons, one of which is still functional. There are also barracks, trenches and other fortifications, so mind your step - you are walking with your own risk. During the summer (approx. mid-June to mid-August), you can hop onboard a small cruise boat, twice daily, that will take you there and the lighthouse island of Kylmäpihlaja. During the winter, you might be able to walk/skate/ski to Kuuskajaskari, depending on the ice conditions (be sure to check the strength of ice from locals, never embark alone, and avoid shipping routes - again, do this at your own risk). During other seasons, you need your own boat or a lift from someone else (you could ask around, someone might want to give you a ride). During high season, there is a café and a bar operating on the island.
Kuuskajaskari is a relatively large island with almost complete tree cover. Views are terrific when the weather is nice. There is (was?) an observation tower which might be (have been?) opened to public in the future. Old guns and barracks may be of interest at least to those who are interested in militaria.
This cache contains a waterproof disposable camera. Please take a photo of yourself and/or the surroundings. Photos will be posted on the Internet. The cache is a see-through plastic container with a dark blue lid. It also contains a log book, a pencil and a sharpener. It should not contain anything else, so please do not leave any other things behind, and do not take souvenirs. (Travel Bugs are ok though.) When hiding the cache again, please take care to put it in the same place, as described in the hints section.
