Geocache Description:

This cache involves what I like to call "Pterodactyl Mountain". The name has no history, it actually came from a joke, because I thought I saw something one day flying around the mountain on my lunch break.

Parking is located at N39 19.978 / W77 40.993. The trail head begins at N39 19.961 / W77 40.925. Small children may have problems with this cache as it is a steep long hike to the top. DO NOT LEAVE THE TRAIL! you may actually get within a few hundered feet of the cache but the trail turns away. It comes back. Bushwhacking would get you nowhere on this one.

Once at the top if you look straight ahead at the range across the river you will see "Pterodactyl mountain". It's on the other side and has a rock slide coming down the eastern side.

After researching I have found out that the real name for the mountain range was called "Short Hill" mountains and it was once used in the civil war as a stakeout to protect Harpers Ferry from invaders crossing the Potomac. I also read once on a sign at another cache that the area was used as an arsenal around the same time. Personally I think it's a breeding grounds for dinosaur or some kind of goverment underground conspiracy place. Ever just get one of those creepy vibes off a place like that?

FTF honors go to SedonaBug!!! Congratulations !!!
