Geocache Description:

Welcome to Acadia National Park

and

Hulls Cove Visitor Center

The coordinates to this virtual cache will take you to the Hulls Cove Visitor's Center, the place where I suggest you start your visit to one of our nation's most visited National Parks. Visit the Hulls Cove Visitor Center for all that you need to make your visit to this beautiful place a memorable one, it is open from April 14th to Oct. 31st. The visitor’s center doesn’t have to be open to claim this cache.

Whether you have a few hours or a few days, explore Acadia your way. Climb a historic trail to a scenic mountaintop. Cruise with a park ranger to a remote island or paddle your canoe across Eagle Lake. Walk barefoot across the sand at Sand Beach or stargaze from the shore as a night sky emerges. Step back in time as you explore the historic Rockefeller bridges, Carroll Homestead, or area lighthouses. Enjoy Acadia in all seasons and at all times of the day. Enjoy Acadia your way.

Talk to any one of the many many rangers available at the Visitor Center. Tell them your interests and how much time you have and they will offer some friendly advice on how to tackle what you wish to do.

What did I do in Acadia ?

I started by watching the informational movie inside the visitor center. It gives you a great overview of the park. Of course I stamped my National Passport book ,we love our NP passport book, if you don’t have one, you need one.

I'm a bicyclist, so I then met with a ranger to get advice on a Carriage Road route for my wife, friends and I to bike. We selected a beautiful but hilly ride near Jordan Pond . Make reservations the day before if you plan on eating at the restaurant at Jordon’s Pond and save yourself some wait time.

Of course we visited Cadillac Mountain , the highest mountain on the eastern seaboard, and Jordan Pond and found the two rather famous virtual caches there.

It was offseason so we drove the Park Loop Road During the busy times you will want to jump on the free park bus. It will save you lots of steps, because the bus will drop you right at the attraction, where if you're driving you may have to walk a good deal more after parking your car.

We visited Thunder Hole at the visitor center times are posted on when you will likely hear the “thunder”. A GREAT stop along the Park Loop Road.

No, I didn’t get to do the Beehive Trail my wife wasn’t game for the adventure. But, please look into hiking the Beehive Trail, I’ve talked to family members who have done it and its an AMAZING hike with SPECTACULAR views… but not for the faint of heart. It’s a 2 mile hike using manufactured steps, iron rung, ladders, handrails and other hardware to help hikers make their way up the peak.

Claiming the cache :

To claim this cache you have to go the coords listed on this cache page, just outside the Hulls Cove Visitor’s and take a picture at the sign that mentions “HULLS COVE VISITOR CENTER” and post a picture along with your log ( don’t worry, if your bashful, your face doesn’t have to be included). The sign has changed from the one in the picture. Finds without pics WILL BE DELETED! d enough to be able to walk you will have 52 stairs to get to the Hulls Cove Visitor’s Center. It’s worth the effort! Now, don’t stop there, go inside and get info on how you will “enjoy Acadia your way”.
