Welcome to our Freaky Things series. These caches a placed along the Apollo Bay Foreshore walk, starting at the Surf Club and ending at Wild Dog Road. It’s a 2.5km walk along the beautiful Apollo Bay.
Scorpions freak me out after a nasty close encounter with one while camping as a child. My mother spotted one just above my head on the tent wall and the huge spooky shadow it cast sends shivers down my spine to this day. Scorpions are common arachnids found in gardens and forests throughout Australia. They are found under logs, rocks and in shallow burrows in earth banks. There are also desert species that construct deep spiral burrows in desert sand.
