This geocache is at the grave site of a horse named Dexter. Dexter was owned by Col Frank Tompkins . Col Tompkins was a Professor of Military Science at Norwich University. Dexter was one of his favorite horses. The site is reputed to be the geographic center of VT. His grave is marked with a marble monument and surrounded by a picket fence.
The cache is a camoflaged pill container. It is winter friendly. It's location is about 0.25 miles from the trail head and parking area. The landowner has given permission for placement of this geocache. NO NIGHT CACHING AND NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES, ATVS OR SNOWMOBILES. WALKING ONLY. There are some great views of the Dog River Valley and Paine Mountain ridgeline. Spectacular in foliage season.
