Da Varenna a Bellano è una piccola serie di 10 cache (9 multi e 1 letterbox) che si possono cercare lungo il sentiero che da Perledo, sopra Varenna, passando per Gisazio e Regoledo, conduce fino alla Croce del Gallo, sopra Bonzeno (a sua volta sopra Bellano).
Il tratto che interessa le cache si percorre in circa un'ora a cui aggiungere naturalmente il tempo per la ricerca. Nella prima parte (Perledo-Gisazio) si cammina lungo la vecchia mulattiera fattibile, volendo, anche in MTB dato che è sufficientemente larga (richiede comunque una certa esperienza); nella seconda parte (Gisazio-Croce del Gallo) si percorre un comodo sentiero con brevi dislivelli e, secondo me, non adatto alle MTB in quanto troppo stretto.
Essendo un'alternativa al Sentiero del Viandante per raggiungere Bellano, posta ad una quota più elevata, offre tre oppotunità di percorrenza:
- Percorso ad anello (consigliato): partendo da Varenna si sale a Vezio poi, seguendo in parte il S.d.V. si arriva a Perledo. Giunti alla Croce del Gallo si scende fino a Bonzeno e da lì si riprende il S.d.V. per il ritorno a Varenna;
- Percorso ad anello con treno: come sopra, poi giunti a Bonzeno si continua la discesa fino alla Stazione FS di Bellano;
- Percorso a/r: parcheggio a Perledo presso il campo sportivo (waypoint indicato); arrivati alla Croce del Gallo si ritorna per la stessa via.
Le multi sono molto semplici, con uno o due stage. In tutti i casi è necessario guardare le foto spoiler per non rischiare di demolire inutilmente i muretti in cui sono nascoste (in buchi già presenti!). Gli spoiler sono disponibili nei geochecker, è dunque necessario avere uno smartphone con connessione ad internet (quasi tutto il percorso è coperto dal segnale 4G di Tim, non saprei per gli altri operatori, ma non penso ci siano problemi, non siamo in alta montagna).

LA CROCE DI FERRO
La terza multi, dopo la letterbox, inizia all'altezza di un bosco di tassi ai piedi di una bella falesia. Notate nei pressi di GZ una bellissima stratificazione ad arco della roccia!

Da Varenna a Bellano is a small series of 10 cache (9 multi and 1 letterbox) that can be seeked along the path that from Perledo, above Varenna, passing through Gisazio and Regoledo, leads up to the Croce del Gallo, above Bonzeno (that is located above Bellano).
The geocaching section takes about one hour walking plus the time to seek for. In the first part (Perledo-Gisazio) you walk along the old mule track and it is suitable, if you like, even for MTBs since it is wide enough (it requires some experience anyway); in the second part (Gisazio-Croce del Gallo) you walk a comfortable path with short uphill and downhill, and in my opinion is not suitable for MTBs as it is too tight.
Being an alternative to the Sentiero del Viandante path to reach Bellano at a higher altitude, it offers three travel opportunities:
- Ring route (recommended): starting from Varenna you walk uphill to Vezio then, following the Sentiero del Viandante, you come to Perledo. Once at the Croce del Gallo it goes down to Bonzeno and from there you can take the Sentiero del Viandante to return to Varenna;
- Train ring route: as above, then at Bonzeno continue the descent to Bellano railway station;
- Roundtrip route: parking your car in Perledo at the sports ground (waypoint listed); once arrived at Croce del Gallo you go back on the same way.
The multis are very simple, with one or two stages. In all cases, it is necessary to look at the spoiler pictures in order to avoid dismantling the stone walls where the caches are hidden. The spoilers are available in the geochecker, so you need to have a smartphone with internet connection (all the way is covered by Tim's 4G signal, I don't know about other operators, but I don't think there are problems, we are not in the high mountains after all).
PLEASE DO NOT PUBLISH PICTURES OF GZs, BOXES, LOGBOOKS, "VIEW FROM THE CACHE". LET THE GEOCACHERS WHO'LL COME AFTER YOU TO ENJOY THE CACHES IN THE SAME WAY!
LA CROCE DI FERRO (THE IRON CROSS)
The third multi, just after the letterbox, starts in a yews wood (Taxus baccata) at the bottom of a nice cliff.
The cache is hidden under some stones; in the geochecker you'll find some hints and a spoiler picture.
