Mount Franklin is an ancient volcano with dramatic landscapes.
Exploring the crater and then around the rim of the volcano you get a feel for the raw power of the earth. Near the geocache you can see how a lava flow has shaped the landscape revealing the layers of volcanic scoria rock. Can you imagine when this area was more active? The Dja Dja Wurrung, the local aboriginal custodians, know this sacred area as Lalgambook - The Emu's Nest.
