Geocache Description:

The Oak Hill/Bill Edge trail is a fairly new set of hiking trails that covers a 66-area of land by Swains pond in North Chelmsford, MA. The trails can take you from one edge of the area to another, or you can branch of and go in a different direction. There are three entrances/exits. One on Swain Road, one on Dunstable Road, and one in Scotty Hollow.

The cache is located near the border of the Lowell Sportsman's club, but the trail never goes on the club's land, and the actual range is far from the border The Grendel, which the cache is named after, is one of the main antagonists in the Anglo-Saxon poem Beowulf. Grendel is a troll who is a descendant of the biblical character Cain. Grendel is feared by all the people in Geat, except for Beowulf. The story ends with Beowulf attacking Grendel, and ripping off Grendel's arm. Grendel is able to escape, but later dies due to blood loss. The story is later retold by John Gardener in his novel Grendel. The novel is told from Grendel's point of view, and explains his character in more detail. In 2007, a film adaptation of Beowulf was created, which brought Grendel to life. Congrats to Bill the Cat 89 for FTF
