Geocache Description:

According to good ‘ole Wiki, “Melaleuca /ˌmɛləˈluːkə/ is a genus of nearly 300 species of plants in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae, commonly known as paperbarks, honey-myrtles or tea-trees”.

Well, this green belt is full of them paperbark thingies. In fact, the streets of Ashwood are full of them – although I would much rather prefer the cherry blossom trees myself. I have often wondered why we don’t make Melbourne the cherry blossom capital of the southern hemisphere given its conducive climate. But, that’s another topic for another day.

This green belt is not a very busy place so you probably won’t need to go into stealth mode.

If you are extremely vertically challenged you might need some of Spider-man's or Catwoman's skill.

This is a good place to let your geodog off leash and also play frisbee. And if you are inclined, you could almost play, “rolling down the sandhills” (think the popular Wiggles song with accompanying actions).

If you come at the right time, your geodog might even get a playdate with other nice doggies from the nearby apartments up the hill towards Warrigal Road. If you venture all the way up there, you’ll be able to get a nice view of the hills on a clear day.

Oh, and if you see a rather large lunchbox that is masquerading as a cache, you can be sure that’s not the cache you should be looking for – I was almost fooled myself. There are all kinds of odd things hanging off the trees in this area. Not sure what is attracting them, perhaps these trees have magneto-like powers.

BYO writing stick. Please replace exactly where you found it and make sure that it is secure before replacing camouflage. There’s a little space for tiny swappables.

And here’s my poem in ode of this cache.

Just Another Melaleuca

by Cherryslice88

Melaleuca you’re so fine
I’m so glad you I don’t dine
Scrubby shapes and heights you reach
Spiky leaves will make us screech.

Pretty flowers that you bear
Nectar tangled in my hair
Insect, birds and mammals feed
Satisfying wholesome mead.

Sandy deserts swampy bogs
Growing tall your paper logs
Antiseptic tea tree oil
Nature’s produce of the soil.
